If you are looking for a versatile, fun to drive, spacious, agile, fuel-efficient and easy to use vehicle in the city, you have a lot of options at the moment. Indeed, the subcompact SUV segment is growing, and consumers who want all the features listed above have several choices at their disposal. Take for example the all-new 2017 Nissan Qashqai, introduced this year at the Detroit Auto Show.
The new Nissan Qashqai will compete with several other new models, including the Toyota C-HR. These are two excellent vehicles. However, they are also quite different from one another, so it is important to carefully catalogue our needs when we have to choose one or the other of these models. Let’s take a closer look.
More equipment and more return on investment with the 2017 Nissan Qashqai
The 2017 Nissan Qashqai and the Toyota C-HR have a lot to offer, as we have already mentioned. That said, if you look at the pricing side and what each model gives you for your money, the advantage is clearly with the Nissan Qashqai.
The latter is available starting at $ 19,998, making it the most affordable subcompact SUV in the segment, and ultimately one of the most affordable utility vehicles in the industry. In comparison, the Toyota C-HR is offered starting at $ 24,690, a difference of more than $ 4,500. The difference is not minimal.
What is most surprising is that in terms of equipment, there is not a huge difference between the Qashqai at $ 19,998 and the C-HR at almost $ 25,000. Both models offer heated seats and a rearview camera, but the C-HR’s camera is integrated into the rearview mirror and thus has a smaller display.
The C-HR does offer 17-inch wheels, something the entry-level model of the Qashqai does not offer, but buyers can turn to the Nissan Qashqai SV which offers 17-inch wheels in addition to a heated steering wheel, a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, remote starter and keyless entry with push-button start. Even with the Nissan Qashqai SV, buyers save money compared to the Toyota C-HR given that the SV model’s price is set at $ 24,598.
But that’s not all, for an amount equivalent to the Toyota C-HR base price, you can get all-wheel-drive in the Nissan Qashqai, an option that is not offered on any version of the Toyota SUV. And finally, in addition to offering more equipment at a lower price, the 2017 Nissan Qashqai offers a more spacious cabin, especially with regard to cargo space which is 648 liters in the 2017 Nissan Qashqai compared to about 532 liters for the Toyota C-HR.
