Red Deer Nissan
Japanese automaker Nissan certainly created a surprise at the last Detroit International Auto Show by unveiling one of the most impressive and technologically advanced SUVs we have ever seen.
It’s called the Nissan XMotion (pronounced Cross-Motion) and it could very well represent the future of SUVs that the automotive industry will offer one day. At the very least it certainly represents the future of SUVs at Nissan in addition to representing what we could see in the cockpit of the Japanese automaker's vehicles in the near future.
Screens that you can control with your eyes in the Nissan XMotion
The first thing you need to know about the Nissan Xmotion concept is that it has seven digital screens inside. There are three main screens in the center, two other screens at the ends of these screens in the center, and two others on the ceiling. Together, these screens show and integrate all of the XMotion’s functions and controls.
What is interesting is that it is possible to control these functions using only the eyes, or using different gestures. The goal here is to simplify the interaction between the driver and the car, and also to improve safety.
In addition, the Nissan XMotion will feature a virtual personal assistant that takes the form of a Japanese koi fish. After entering the XMotion using our fingerprints, the assistant comes to life. It can perform a variety of functions, including autonomous driving, in addition to providing relevant information about the surroundings of the vehicle.
For the moment, the Nissan XMotion is only a concept. Its style, on the other hand, could end up on a future Nissan SUV one day since it is doesn’t seem to be very far from the production. A new-generation XTerra, for example, would fit perfectly with the XMotion’s robust design.
"In the Xmotion concept, we explored the more rugged and powerful side of Nissan Intelligent Mobility. Bold and powerful forms and proportions are, upon closer inspection, contrasted with aspects of traditional Japanese craftsmanship expressed in a contemporary way," said Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president of global design at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. "The exterior's combination of western and eastern concepts continues inside the Xmotion, where advanced connectivity and autonomous technologies mix with modern Japanese digital art and cultural craftsmanship. At a glance, Xmotion may appear to have a minimal design language, but a closer look reveals layers of detail that make this concept exceptional."
